Silence is --
the space
between water particles
in a shroud of low lying mist 
hugging the base of Mt Sauk

Silence is --
that ebb and flow 
of my breath during
deep dark sleep

Silence is --
heightened beauty 
and Peace
long continuous stillness

Silence is --
the space between me and that red rock ledge
across this white canyon 
only pure emptiness

Silence is --
the void capturing a single beam of sunlight

Silence is --
resonating from the gratitude of isolated peaks 

Silence is --
my heart ceasing to    beat     beat     beat
and my lungs no longer welcoming 
sweet air of earth.
