I pause
slowly taking a deep breath my eyes scan the forest floor and rest on a fern leaf that has a hole in it like my heart i stare at it for several seconds allowing the emotions to flow rising steadily like raging murky waters eyes burn flooding the damp ground beyond the hole covered in brown dead leaves feeling the pulse of earth or is that my own heartbeat your heartbeat….. that once lived but now exists deep within Silence is --
the space between water particles in a shroud of low lying mist hugging the base of Mt Sauk Silence is -- that ebb and flow of my breath during deep dark sleep Silence is -- heightened beauty and Peace long continuous stillness Silence is -- the space between me and that red rock ledge across this white canyon only pure emptiness Silence is -- the void capturing a single beam of sunlight Silence is -- resonating from the gratitude of isolated peaks Silence is -- my heart ceasing to beat beat beat and my lungs no longer welcoming sweet air of earth. I crack the window
and the frogs murmur fill the empty spaces of the room a simple song is sung hurry Spring bring the warm rains with so we too can begin again 5-1-16 Shelter Bay LaConner, WA
Draft There’s a place where the universe can hear my heart beat. It can read my soul like a good book, and gaze inside my mind like a crystal ball (as complex as (itself) the solar system,) a place where the animals speak in color and the waters roar like tigers, a place where rainbow sidewalks never end, a place where trees do the cha-cha in the wind’s symphony as humming bird’s orchestrate. A place where the sun and the moon touch, cosmos first kiss. There’s a place where the universe can hear my heart beat, under slumber’s potion. Under slumber. The cosmos determine my breath as sure as the sea’s dance. A place where the universe can hear my heart beat. I’ve seen this place, I dared to look close enough to see this place. I heard the whispers of the universe I’ve seen the textures and the magic, I’m lucky enough to live inside the place where the universe can hear my heartbeat. I’ve felt the fulfillment, the modesty, the essence, the constant, consistency, I’ve know this place my whole life. I’m looking at myself. The universe hears my heartbeat every day, and extends it outward into the ebb and flow of the sea, earthquakes, the humming of bird’s wings, the gust of a wind, the minute growth of tree, the blooming of the apple blossom, the crash of a wave, the stomp of an elephant on the African plains, in the thunderheads building in the distance, in the strike of horizontal lightening in the desert, extended upward and outward still to the collision of an asteroid on the planet Mars, the burst of sun storm on the surface of the sun, in the birth of star, and in the commotion of a supernova, the death of one, the energy of one heart beating is what the universe is made of. We came from those stars, made from the same elements, and we will return to them, we will return. Under a full moon deep in the desert landscape
The fiery glow spoke to me With each hurried crackle the sparks sail Beads of light Drift to the sky Sparks of ancient fires from ancient peoples My blood and bone Imaginations and knowledge kept preserved inside each flaming flicker When I am gone
River Skagit continues to flow Sun shines evermore Rain drops fall to Earth Trees burst with green in the Spring and stand naked in the Crisp Autumn breeze Moon wakes every Night to gaze upon Golden Love sleeping in the West When I am gone Wind rustles branches of Strong Cedar Clouds soar across vast Skies When I am gone Mount Sauk stands tall Unwavering through seasons Alpine butterflies dance among bright colored Floral friends When I am gone Cycle of Life Does not stammer Does not stop When I am gone My beating heart resides in Mossy covered Earth My blood these Raging waters flow My limbs reaching branches of the Old Ones My body immense summit of Mount Baker My eyes white light of Moon and Golden rays of Sun When I am gone I have not gone far I live inherently within |
